Board discusses transfer station cost-sharing with Hope

misc · Meeting of July 21, 2026

NY BENSON — The Benson Town Board met with Hope Supervisor Steve Tomlinson to discuss a 2027 transfer station cost-sharing agreement. Tomlinson presented Hope's $5,456 increase in transfer station costs over four years, plus ongoing expenses including a $24,000 loader repair bill. Supervisor Phil Snyder proposed establishing a formal taxable district and questioned a $10,000 annual truck payment allocation.

Board members expressed concern about permanent agreement terms. The Board agreed to schedule a joint meeting with Hope and both towns' highway superintendents before the 1/1/2027 contract start date.
