Town Board Approves Battery Moratorium Hearing, Fuel Tank Purchase

NY BENSON — Benson Town Board authorizes public hearing on battery storage moratorium. The board voted unanimously to move forward with Resolution 48-26 establishing a public hearing on Local Law 1 of 2026, a proposed moratorium on battery energy storage systems. In related action, the board approved a $9,443.33 bid from G.A.
Bove & Sons, Inc., for a diesel fuel tank. The board also voted unanimously to raise the pay of a highway department employee to $25 per hour effective June 1, 2026, to retain the worker following an executive session discussion. A separate resolution on increasing stipend to full-time employees was tabled pending consultation with Hamilton County Treasurer.
